ADE Certification
(formerly called Older Adult Fitness Leader/OAL)
Learn to teach cardio, strength, & stretch classes to people with disabilities or chronic medical conditions requiring specialized fitness activities.
Did you know that in Nova Scotia, over 22% of our population is over the age of 65 and 73% of these individuals are living with chronic illness?
Learn how to safely and effectively work with these individuals in a class, small group or individual session to help them increase their functional fitness and health reserve and reduce their risk for falls. This is especially important knowledge for rural communities as the older population percentage is even higher.
This course is a mix of online theory via Zoom classes and an in-person day to apply what you have learned.
