Mind + Body Leadership (MBL)

Learn to teach fitness-level Yoga and Meditation classes.

Mind & Body Leadership is a group fitness certification that is based in fitness yoga and incorporates other exercise formats that are calming & non-competitive.

Mind-body fitness leaders are guides who help class participants tune into the mind-body connection. Taking a holistic (whole body) approach, MBLs design classes that bring together the mind and body through practices like fitness yoga, breathwork, stretching, meditation and visualization. These aren’t just exercises—they’re experiences that help participants feel present, relaxed, and connected to themselves and others.

In the MBL course, students will learn the fundamentals: the causes of stress, how stress effects the body and how to apply mind body practices such as fitness level yoga, breathwork, stretching for relaxation, visualizations and meditation to help mitigate stress and promote relaxation. Certified MBLs can also incorporate portable equipment such as blocks, blankets, bolsters (pillows) and bands, used for certain poses in their classes. Students will also learn skills needed for teaching a mind-body fitness class such as lesson planning, cueing, safety, and how to use music to complement the class.

Students will be provided with beginner lesson plans and visualization scripts to get them started in their mind-body practice.

Create Fusion Classes and Exercise Programs!

Already have a certification? As an add on to an existing certification, GELs, WTs, ICE Leaders and PTs can develop fusion classes and client programs with added mind-body components, creating a unique class or workout that your participants and clients will love!

This certification (and the related insurance) excludes any version of hot yoga or any inversion asanas.

All participants must also complete Exercise Theory and have a current 1st Aid & CPR certification before the MBL certificate will be issued.
